Our Story
More Than a Breeder, A Legacy of Excellence
Founded in 2008 by the Gonzalez family, Von Gonzalez Kennels began with a singular vision: to bring authentic European German Shepherd bloodlines to American families without compromising on health, temperament, or ethics.
Every dog in our program is selected from renowned European lines — West German Show, Working, and DDR bloodlines. We perform extensive health testing including OFA hip and elbow evaluations, DM genetic screening, cardiac evaluations, and annual eye certifications. Our breeding dogs hold titles in conformation, obedience, and protection sports.
We do not mass-produce puppies. Each litter is carefully planned with a focus on improving the breed, producing dogs that excel as family companions, service animals, and working partners. Over 16 years, we have placed more than 500 puppies into loving homes across 48 states.

We maintain both West German Show Line and Working Line programs. Our show-line dogs carry the classic black and rich red pigment, correct structure, and calm, clear-headed temperament ideal for families. Our working-line dogs excel in protection, detection, and service work with intense drive and unshakeable nerve strength.
Every litter is planned with genetic diversity, structural soundness, and temperament stability as top priorities. We do not breed for color trends or popular demand. We breed for the betterment of the breed.
